Time: 3 Hours
Max Marks: 70
Answer Question No.1 which is compulsory and any five from the rest.
The figures in the right hand margin indicate marks.

Q1. Answer the following questions:
a) The constant density of fluid-implies-that, Dρ/Dt=0, However, Dρ/Dt=0 does not implies that ρ is constant. Explain it.

b) What is volumetric dilation? Express it linear strain rate of a fluid element. c) What is difference between Eulerian and Lagrangian description of fluid flow?

d) Find the vorticity components at point (1, 1, 1) for the following flow field.

e) Explain what you mean by ‘Stationary turbulence’.

f) What is Stokesian Fluid?

g) For the flow represented by stream function, ψ = xy. Determine the vorticity components.

h) \What is the difference between vectors and tensors?

i) What do you mean by ‘closure of turbulence’?

j) What changes has to be made in Navier-Stokes equation for in-compressible flow, in order to get Euler equation for that flow. Do you think that Euler’s equation of fluid motion satisfy no-slip condition at wall? Explain it.
