Odisha Postal Circle is going to recruit eligible candidates for the post of Post Man, Mail Guard and Post Master under Gramin Dak Sebak post. Selection will be done on the basis of the mark secured in written test. Here we have described the Postman, Mail Guard Exam Pattern & Syllabus . It is also applicable for the Postman, Mail Guard exam of other states .

Postman, Mail Guard Exam Pattern & Syllabus

The Postal Gramin Dak Sebak (GDS) Exam is a multiple choice question type exam. There will be 100 Objective questions, each having 1 mark. No negative marking for the wrong answer. The question will be divide into 4 sections i.e Part A, Part B, Part C with 2 sub sections. 25 questions will come from each section and its difficulty level is less.

  • Part A- General Knowledge : 25 Marks
  • Part B- Mathematics : 25 Marks
  • Part C (I) – English : 25 Marks
  • Part C (II) – Odia Language : 25 Marks

Post Man & Mail Guard Exam Pattern :

In the Post Man and Mail Guard recruitment exam questions comes in the following structure

  1. Objective Type Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) each having 4 option
  2. Question Paper Has Part A, Part B, Part C(I) & Part C(II)
  3. Total Number of Questions is 100.
  4. Full Mark of the exam is 100 Marks
  5. Time Duration will be of 02:00 hours (120 minutes).
  6. There is no negative marking for WRONG answer.
  7. Minimum qualifying mark is 40% marks for OC, 33% marks for SC/ST and 37% marks for OBC candidate in aggregate.

  • Indian important events,
  • Sports events and news,
  • Freedom Struggle,
  • Constitution of India,
  • Current news about India and World,
  • General topics questions based on everyday observations,
  • Political Questions

Part B (Mathematics) :

  • Averages,
  • Percentages,
  • Ratios & proportions,
  • Profit & loss,
  • Simple & compound interest,
  • Graphs & tables, time & work,
  • Time & distance,
  • Whole numbers,
  • Decimals & fractions,
  • Number system,
  • Probability,
  • Permutation & combination,
  • Statistics

Part C- English Language : 

  • To test the candidates’ English skills the questions will be based on
  • Articles,
  • Prepositions,
  • Verbs,
  •  synonyms,
  • Antonyms,
  • Sentence comprehension,
  • Tenses,
  • Voice,
  • Vocabulary based direct questions,
  • Comprehension passages etc.

Odia Language :

  • The questions are asked to test that the candidates can comprehend, read and understand their regional language.
