OPSC Assistant Conservator of Forests Syllabus & Exam Pattern is given below for download. OPSC is going to conduct the recruitment exam for the post of Assistant Conservator of Forests in under Forest and Environment Department of Odisha. The detail exam pattern and syllabus for the Assistant Conservator of Forests is provide below by Odisha Public service Commission. The written examination shall be on the following papers, two compulsory and four optional papers carrying 300 marks and 200 marks each . The time duration of each paper is 3 Hours.

OPSC Assistant Conservator of Forests Syllabus & Exam Pattern :

Assistant Conservator of Forests examination will be held for following four papers, first two papers are compulsory and the two optional papers. Each optional paper has two paper, each of 200 Marks.

  • Paper I   : General English : 300 Marks
  • Paper II  : General Knowledge : 300 Marks
  • Paper III : First Optional (Paper I) : 200 Marks
  • Paper IV : First Optional (Paper II) :  200 Marks
  • Paper V  : Second Optional (Paper I) :  200 Marks
  • Paper VI : Second Optional (Paper II) :  200 Marks
    Total 1400 Marks

Asst. Conservator of Forests Exam Optional Subjects List : 

 

A candidate shall select any two subjects from the following and each subject shall have two papers:-

  • (i) Agriculture
  • (ii) Agriculture Engineering
  • (iii) Veterinary Science &
  • (iv) Botany
  • (v) Chemistry
  • (v) Chemical Engineering
  • (vii) Civil Engineering
  • (viii) Forestry
  • (ix) Geology
  • (x) Mathematics Animal Husbandry
  • (xi) Mechanical Engineering
  • (xii) Physics
  • (xiii) Statistics
  • (xiv) Zoology

 

  1. The Standard of papers in General English and General Knowledge will be such as may be expected of a Science or Engineering Graduate of an Indian University.
  2. The Scope of the syllabus for optional subject papers for the examination is broadly of the Honours Degree level i.e. A Level Higher than be Bachelors Degree and lower than the Masters Degree. In the case of engineering subjects, the level corresponds to the Bachelors Degree.
  3. There shall be no practical examination in any of the subjects

Condition For Subject Selection : 

A candidates will not be allowed to offer the following combination of subjects:-

  • (a) Agriculture and Agricultural Engineering
  • (b) Agriculture and veterinary science and Animal Husbandry
  • (c) Chemistry and Chemical Engineering
  • (d) Mathematics and Statistics
  • (e) Of the engineering subjects viz Agricultural Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering not more than one subject.

 

Syllabus for OPSC Assistant Conservator of Forests Exam:

Paper-I : General English : 300 Marks

The question paper in General English will be designed to test the candidate’s understanding of English and workmanlike use of words as noted below. The pattern of questions would broadly be as follows:-

  1. Comprehension of a given passage : 30 Marks
  2. Precis writing with a passage of around 1000 words : 40 Marks
  3. Translation from Odia to English : 30 Marks
  4. Grammar, usage and vocabulary : 80 Marks
  5. Short Essay of around 1000 words : 100 Marks
  6. Expansion of an idea : 20 Marks
           Total : 300 Marks

Paper-II : General Knowledge : 300 Marks 

 

The paper in General knowledge will include knowledge of current events and of such matters as of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspects as may be expected of an educated person, who has not made a special study of any scientific subject. The paper will also include questions on Indian polity including the political system and the constitution of India, History of India and Geography of a nature, which the candidates should be able to answer without special study. 300 Marks

OPTIONAL SUBJECTS

 

Total number of questions in the question papers of optional subjects will be eight. All questions will carry equal marks. Each paper will be divided into two parts, viz. Part A and Part B, each part containing four questions. Out of eight questions, five questions are to be attempted. One question in each part will be compulsory. Candidates will be required to answer three more questions out of the remaining six questions, taking at least one question from each Part. In this way, at least two questions will be attempted from each Part i.e. one compulsory question plus one more.
