OSSC ACTO Syllabus and Exam Pattern is given below in details for download. Odisha staff selection commission OSSC is going to conduct the Assistant Commercial Tax Officer (ACTO) examination in 2016. The exam will be held in three phase. First is Preliminary examination, second is Final examination and Viva voce test.  Preliminary exam is only to shortlist the candidates for the final examination. Preliminary examination is a objective type multiple  choice exam in which only general questions of 100 marks will be asked. Main exam is of 300 marks. After that viva voce of 30 marks will be held. Read the below details to know the OSSC ACTO 2016 Syllabus and Exam Pattern.

OSSC ACTO Exam Pattern :

A. Preliminary Examination: (Negative mark @ 0.25 per Prelim Exam)
General Awareness 100 Marks 1 Hour
B. Main written examination: (No negative mark for wrong answer)
Arithmetic 100 marks (OMR system) 1 hour & 30 minutes
English 100 marks (Descriptive) 1 hour & 30 minutes
General knowledge 100 marks (OMR system) 1 hour & 30 minutes
C. Viva voce Test  30 marks
TOTAL 400 Marks

 

OSSC ACTO Syllabus Details :

(A) Preliminary Examination:

In prelim exam questions will be asked on the subject like Arithmetic. General Knowledge, English & Odia (25-marks in each subject). General knowledge includes subjects like General Science, Current events. History and Geography of India/Odisha, Indian polity & Constitution, Socio economic scenario of India/Odisha, issues in Environment & Human rights. The questions of Arithmetic will be of I ISC standard.

This examination will be a screening test, qualifying in nature, to short list candidates for main written examination. Candidates about 12-times of the number category shall be called for appearing the Main Written examination

(B) Main Written Examination:

Arithmetic: Vulgar Fraction and decimal. L.C.F.. Simple and Compound practice and L.C.M, Simple and Compound interest, rates and taxes, Insurances. Square and Cubic measures in metric system, ratio and proportion. problems on time & work and time & distance, Profit & Loss. The standard of the question will be equal to that of High School Certificate (HSC) Examination.

English:

a. An Essay to be written in English : 30 marks

b. A letter to be written in English : 20 marks

c. Summary or précis of two English passages : 30 marks

d. Translation and re-translation from English passage to Odia and Odia passage to English : 20 marks

General Knowledge:

General Knowledge will be a test of awareness of current events. particularly in respect of Odisha; History, art literature, culture of Odisha; and other matters of day to day observation and experience and basic computer knowledge.

(C) Viva Voce test :

There shall be viva-voce test of 30 marks. Basing on the performance in the Main Written examination. candidates numbering up to 3-times the number of vacancies (Category wise) will be called for viva voce test.
